Biography

At Wyoming:
Junior- Ortiz had many highlights in her junior season but none as big as winning the 2009 MWC three-meter springboard championship. Ortiz was named the MWC Co-Diver of the year for 2008-09. She also placed second on one-meter and placed eighth on platform at conference. During the season, Ortiz was undefeated in dual meets on three-meter until the CSU meet. Over the course of the season, Ortiz set the best marks in school history on both one-meter and three-meter. She also ranks fourth in UW history on platform. Ortiz qualified for the NCAA Zone "E" Championship meet. At Zones, Ortiz finished seventh on both the one-meter and three-meter springboards. Her year wasn't over yet as she traveled to Florida with teammate Emily Huth for the USA Spring Diving National Championships. She placed tenth on three-meter and reached the semi-finals on the one-meter board. Ortiz earned MWC All-Conference honors on all three boards and was the MWC Diver of the Week six of 12 weeks.
Sophomore- As a sophomore, Ortiz continued to excel on the diving boards for the Cowgirls. At the 2007 MWC Championships she finished second in the one-meter, fourth in the three-meter, and eighth on the platform. Earlier in the year at the Air Force Invite, Ortiz had a score of 298.70 in the three-meter which is second all time in UW history. She also competed in the NCAA Zone "E" Diving Championships and finished 15th in the three meter dives, 20th in one meter, and 22nd on the platform. Ortiz was MWC All-Conference for the second year.
Freshman- As a true freshman, Ortiz was a huge contributor to the Cowgirl diving program. Her season was highlighted by a pair of First Team All-MWC honors. She earned All-Conference honors after placing sixth in the one-meter event and seventh in the platform. She also qualified for the 2007 NCAA Zone "E" Diving Championships. At the zone meet, she placed 15th in the platform, 25th in one-meter and 27th in three-meter. At the 2006 Texas Invite, she dove to the third highest platform score in school history of 200.15. She earned her first letter award.

High School: Ortiz was a Colorado Springs Gazette Diver of the Year and a Colorado 4A State Champion her senior year. She was a letterwinner and team captain in both diving and gymnastics.

Personal: She was born on December 3, 1987 in Colorado Springs. She is the daughter of Elaine and Kirby and has an older sister, Christina. She is majoring in nursing.
