Summary

Biography

At Wyoming: Junior- Leyes competed in 15 meets for the Cowgirls including dual meet wins over New Mexico, Denver, TCU, San Diego State, UNLV, Colorado State and Air Force. She swam the second fastest 200 backstroke and the third fastest 100 backstroke time of the season for the Cowgirls. Sophomore- Leyes made big contributions to the Cowgirls as a sophomore. At the 2006 MWC Championships she placed 15th in the 100 backstroke and 16th in the 200 backstroke. She also competed in the 200 IM and swam the backstroke on both medley relays. She helped lead the 400 medley relay team to a fourth place finish and to a new Wyoming record. She earned her first letter award. Freshman- Leyes led off the 200 and 400 medley relays at the 2005 MWC Championships. The 200 medley relay placed third, set a new UW record and earned Second Team All-MWC honors while the 400 medley relay placed fifth. Individually, she placed 13th in the 100 backstroke and 14th in the 200 backstroke. She earned her first letter award.

High School: She helped set the Air Academy High School pool record in the 200 medley relay. She was a four year member of the honor roll.

Personal: She was born March 31, 1986 in Chicago, Ill. She is the daughter of Carolyn and Dan Leyes. She is majoring in social work.
