General Information
As of July 1, 2021, NCAA rules allow a student-athlete to receive compensation for use of their Name, Image and Likeness (NIL). NIL activity is any activity in which a prospective student-athlete or current student-athlete’s name, image, likeness or personal appearance is used for promotional purposes by a non-institutional entity, including a commercial entity, a non-institutional nonprofit, or a charitable entity. Such use may be compensated (e.g., cash, product or other benefit) or uncompensated.

Brandr
UW Athletics and The Brandr Group (TBG) have a group licensing program for Cowboy and Cowgirl student-athletes on all 17 teams, creating additional and new opportunities to profit off of their Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) with UW's official trademarks and logos. Cowboy and Cowgirl student-athletes who voluntarily opt-in to a group licensing agreement with TBG will be able to use their NIL alongside and in conjunction with UWs trademarks and logos that have been licensed to UW trademark licensees (if TBG enters into agreements with UW trademark licensees to do so).
