Compliance
Wyoming Compliance Policy Statement
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) governs the actions of the University of Wyoming’s coaches, staff, and student-athletes. Institutional control is a fundamental requirement of NCAA legislation and is shared responsibility among all UW Athletic supporters. Institutional control includes oversight and responsibility for the actions of coaches, staff, student-athletes, and boosters. It is the responsibility of the UW Athletics Compliance Office to educate stakeholders and monitor compliance with NCAA and applicable conference rules.
The institution’s integrity is upheld by promptly investigating any known or alleged NCAA rules violations and self-reporting any confirmed infractions. Additionally, the Compliance Office promotes a student-athlete and coach-focused atmosphere by providing effective and consistent rules interpretations of applicable conference or NCAA Legislation. The UW Compliance Office strives to provide every UW sports team with opportunities to be successful within the confines of NCAA rules.
The information on this site is designed to provide educational information outlined by the NCAA and to better inform those interested in college athletics generally. Compliance is everyone’s responsibility and we need your help in ensuring the growth and success of Wyoming Athletics!

Education Resources
As an NCAA member institution, the University of Wyoming is obligated to follow the rules governing intercollegiate athletics. The following documents are great resources in our efforts to educate coaches and stakeholders regarding NCAA rules.
Donations
Donation requests come in various different forms to UW Athletics. The following is information to provide clarification and information on UW policies and procedures.
- Any entity or organization that is interested in “autographed” materials must provide the promotional items to be signed. UW Athletics will not provide equipment for autograph-related requests (ex. Basketballs, football helmets, etc.).
- NCAA institutions are prohibited from donating to any entity that benefits high school aged students (considered prospective student-athletes). Prospective student-athletes for NCAA purposes are any students between 9th and 12th grade.
- NCAA institutions cannot provide or arrange for financial assistance, directly or indirectly, to pay any cost of a PSA’s educational expense.
- Example – UW Athletics cannot donate to a signed football (or game tickets) high school booster club.
- NCAA institutions may donate to a “bona fide” youth organization (e.g. YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, etc.). Any donations provided to similar entities may not be earmarked for particular prospective student-athletes.
- An institution's athletics department staff member (e.g., coaching staff member) may not provide any financial contributions to a high school (or preparatory school or two-year college) athletics program through participation in a fund-raising event.
- An institution is prohibited from sponsoring a table, providing memorabilia or otherwise providing institutional support in conjunction with a banquet or other function that will directly or indirectly benefit prospective student-athletes (e.g., awards banquet conducted by a sports foundation, high school athletics banquet).
