Biography

Junior: (2010-11)- Fischer is one of the Cowboy's most experienced members and showed his talent last season at the Mountain West Championships. He recorded three top-five finishes and posted two NCAA `B' cut times. In perhaps his best events, the 100 and 200 breaststroke, he placed second and fourth, respectively, at the conference championships. He placed in the top five in the 200 individual medley. All three of his top-five finishes earned him All-MW awards for the third consecutive year. Along with his second-place finish at conference in the 200 breaststroke, he placed first in the 200 breaststroke four times during 2011. Fischer recorded two first-place finishes in the 100 breaststroke at the Nebraska-North Dakota triangular and against Air Force. Also adding to his excellent campaign was an Academic All-MW award for his work in the classroom. He earned his third letter award while at UW.

Sophomore: (2009-10)- Fischer proved to be one of the leaders for the Cowboy swim team and had a successful sophomore season. Fischer became one of the best breaststroke swimmers in Cowboy history, sitting in second place on the 100 breast list with a time of 54.19 seconds. Fischer placed second at the MW Championships in the 100 breast with his second best time of the season at 54.34. Fischer's 200 breaststroke time of 1:57.51 was also fast enough to earn him MWC runner-up honors and put him in second place on the Cowboy all-time list. He helped lead the Cowboy 200 medley relay team to a fourth-place finish at the conference championships.

Freshman: (2008-09)- Fischer not only became one of the best at the breaststroke for the Cowboys, he also became one of the best in the conference as a freshman. At the 2009 MWC Championships, Fischer placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke, and fifth in the 200 breaststroke. Fischer also added his talent to the Cowboy relays during the season and was a part of the 400 medley relay team that is the fastest in school history. Fischer earned First Team All-MWC in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke and his first letter award as a Cowboy.

High School: Fischer had a very successful high school career that included being a three-time All-American. He also competed in the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials. In the East Bay Athletic League, Fischer was a champion for four years in the 100 breast, and a three-time champion in the 200 IM. He holds the record in the East Bay Athletic League in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM. Fischer was an athlete of the year finalist in 2007 and 2008. Academically, he was Scholastic All-American for three years, and Scholar Athlete all four years.

Personal: He was born on Jan. 2, 1989 in Livermore, Calif. He is the son of Joy and Richard and has a sister, Ashley. He is majoring in art.
