Summary

Biography

Freshman: In his first season as Shears added depth to the Cowboy roster in numerous events. At the 2008 MWC Championships he placed 20th in the 200 breast and 26th in the 200 IM. Shears won his first letter award as a freshman.

High School: Shears was a Wyoming All-State swimmer all four years of his career and also earned all-conference accolades throughout his career. As a junior and senior, he was the Wyoming 3A State Champion in the 100 breaststroke and also as a member of the 400 freestyle relay. He also was a member of the state champion 200 medley relay three times. He was a team captain as a senior. He was also a great student and was an NISCA Academic All-American, a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, was an honor roll member throughout high school and was a member of the National Honor Society

Personal: He was born on April 7, 1989 in Rawlins, Wyo. He is the son of Jeanne and Steve and has an older brother, Nathan. He is majoring in mechanical engineering.
