Biography

At Wyoming:
Junior- Lynch continued to solidify himself as one of the top divers in the MWC as well as one of the best divers in Wyoming history. He had a solid weekend at the 2006 NCAA Zone "E" Diving Championships as he placed seventh in the platform event, 10th in the 3-meter and 12th in the 1-meter. He had a great meet at the 2006 MWC Championships as he placed third in the 3-meter event, fourth in the 1-meter and seventh in the platform. He earned First Team All-MWC honors in the 3-meter event and second team honors in the 1-meter event. He was named the MWC Diver of the week on November 23, 2005 after leading the Cowboys past the Colorado School of Mines in dual action. The award was the third of his career. During the summer of 2006, he competed in the Amsterdam Cup and the Dutch National Diving Meet. He placed ninth in both the 1 and 3-meter events at the Amsterdam Cup and he placed fifth in the 3-meter and sixth in the 1-meter at Dutch Nationals. Entering his senior season, he holds the best platform (6 dives) score in UW history. He also ranks in the top-five of the UW record books in the 3-meter (11 dives), 3-meter (6 dives) and the 1-meter. He was a Cowboy team captain his junior season. He continued to excel in the classroom and was named Academic All-MWC. He earned his third letter award.
Sophomore- Lynch placed seventh in the platform, 13th in the 1-meter and ninth in the 3-meter board at the 2005 NCAA Zone "E" Diving Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla. He also had a strong showing at the 2005 MWC Championships and placed third on both the platform and 1-meter board and fourth on the 3-meter board. He earned First Team All-MWC honors in both the 1-meter and platform events and Second Team honors in the 3-meter event. He was named the MWC diver of the week twice. He earned the award on Oct. 28, 2004 after a strong showing at the CSU Early Bird Invite and on Dec. 8, 2004 after leading the Cowboys in the Texas Invitational. He was named Academic All-MWC.
Freshman- He placed third on the platform, fourth on the 3-meter and seventh on the 1-meter boards at the 2004 MWC Championships. He earned both First and Second Team All-MWC honors. He also competed for UW at the 2004 Zone "E" Diving Championships, placing 12th in the platform, 24th in the 1-meter and 26th in the 3-meter board.

High School: Lynch was an All-American in 2002 and 2003. He was also a district Champion and All-State selection his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. He has held school records in the 1 and 3-meter dives since 2001. He was a district record holder on 1 meter board. A four year letterwinner in diving and a member of the National Honor Society from 2001-03.

Personal: Born February 1, 1985 on Vandenburg Air Force Base in California. He is the son of John Sr. and Laurie Lynch. He is majoring in kinesiology and health promotion.
