Biography

At Wyoming:
Junior- Holmes was one of the most consistent freestyle swimmers for the Cowboys during the season. At the 2009 MWC Championships, Holmes competed in the distance events and finished 12th in the 1650 event. His performance ranked in the top-ten in school history. He also helped the Pokes by placing 14th in the 500 freestyle. Holmes earned his second letter award along with earning Academic All-Conference for the third time in his career.
Sophomore- In his sophomore season, Holmes continued to help the Cowboys in the freestyle events. Holmes competed in the 2008 MWC Championships and came away with an 11th place finish in the 1650 free, and a 14th place finish in the 500 free. He was an All-Conference selection and earned his first letter award along with being named Academic Conference
Freshman- Holmes competed in every freestyle event with the exception of the mile during the season. His versatility added a great amount of depth to the Cowboy lineup. He excelled academically and was an Academic All-Conference selection.

High School: As a senior at Kearney High School, Holmes was the Nebraska runner-up in the 100 freestyle and placed third in the 200 freestyle at state. He finished just behind fellow UW swimmer Tommy Gregory in the 100. He was a team captain as both a junior and senior. He lettered in swimming all four years and in tennis as a freshman and sophomore. He was a great student and was on the honor roll all four years of high school.

Personal: He was born on March 24, 1988 in Pocahontas, Idaho. He is the son of Marcie and Doug and has three siblings, William, Andrew and Elizabeth. He is majoring in chemistry.
