Biography

UW This Season: Harris was granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA, and will play his senior season at linebacker. Coming out of spring drills, he was listed as the co-starter at the weakside linebacker spot. 

2013: In 2013, his best game of season came versus Hawai'i with nine tackles, one sack, two TFLs and a pass breakup. He made the tackle on the fourth-down attempt on the Rainbow Warriors' first possession to seal the win. He played well versus Nebraska as well with seven tackles. He had 49 tackles, one sack for 8 yards and recovered two fumbles. 

2012: Harris got off to a great start to his season, notching eight tackles in the season opener versus Texas. But an injury suffered against the Longhorns kept him out the rest of the season. 

2011: Harris was sixth on the Cowboy defense in tackles, racking up 65 stops to go with three pass breakups. His 65 tackles tied him for 27th in the Mountain West, averaging five stops per game. He started seven games for the Pokes at middle linebacker. He played in all 13 games, but had his best performance of the season at Bowling Green, when he had 11 tackles and one pass breakup. He had at least four tackles in 10 games, and forced a fumble versus San Diego State. For the season, he had 1.5 tackles for loss. 

2010: Splitting time with senior Keith Lewis at outside linebacker, Harris played in all 12 games and started eight of the last nine contests. Harris made 47 tackles on the season to rank ninth on the team, while also collecting three tackles for loss, one fumble recovery and four pass breakups. Harris made a season-high eight tackles versus Air Force and at TCU, while also recording seven stops at New Mexico. His efforts earned him a place on Phil Steele's All-Freshman team as a Fourth Team Freshman All-American. 

2009: He redshirted after suffering a knee injury in fall camp. Prior to the injury, it was thought that Harris would have a good opportunity to play as a true freshman for the Cowboys. 

High School: Harris was honored as an All-Colorado selection for all classifications by The Denver Post as a senior in 2008. Harris was also named First Team All-State Class 4A by both The Denver Post and the Rocky Mountain News. He was credited with 101 tackles as an outside linebacker and 804 rushing yards as a running back his senior season. As a team captain, he helped lead Fountain-Fort Carson to a 10-2 record and the quarterfinals of the 4A state playoffs as a senior. His junior year, Harris earned second team all-state honors, while recording 94 total tackles and intercepting four passes. During his three years at Fountain-Fort Carson, his high school team compiled a 30-6 (.833) record and advanced to the quarterfinals of the state playoffs all three seasons. A three-sport standout, he was a three-year letterman in basketball and a four-year letterwinner in track and field. Harris also earned first team academic all-state honors. He played for head football coach Mitch Johnson at Fountain-Fort Carson. 

Personal: Born Nov. 10, 1990, Harris is the oldest of three children of Valarie and Keith Harris. He was also recruited by Air Force, Colorado State and New Mexico. Harris is pursuing a degree in anthropology at UW.
