UW This Season: Tim Kamana will add depth to the linebacking corps of the Cowboys this season.  

2016: Kamana continued to be one of the most reliable backups for the Cowboys last season, appearing in all 14 games. He recorded nine tackles on the season. He also added 1.5 tackles for loss. He also added one pass breakup on the season. Kamana recorded a season-high four tackles against UC Davis.

2015: Appeared in all 12 games for the Cowboys earning eight starts at linebacker. He made the transition from safety to linebacker making 31 tackles on the season with 16 solo stops and 15 assisted tackles. He also added one tackle for loss for four yards. He added one interception on the season along with a pass breakup. He recorded a season-high six tackles against Colorado State. Kamana recorded five tackles and a tackle for loss in the season opener against North Dakota. He recorded an interception in the season finale against UNLV returning it for five yards. He was named to the Academic All-Conference team for his work in the classroom. 

2014: Kamana played in all 12 games starting seven at safety. He finished the season with 44 total tackles with 27 solo stops and 17 assisted tackles. He also recorded two pass breakups and one interception. Made a career-high 10 tackles against San Jose State and  recorded a career-high eight solo tackles against the Spartans. Kamana recorded his first career interception at New Mexico. He added pass breakups against Florida Atlantic and Boise State.

2013: Redshirted. 

High School: Kamana was a mid-year signee for the Wyoming Cowboys, who enrolled at UW in January 2013. He came to Wyoming from the U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School at West Point. Kamana spent the 2012 fall semester at West Point Prep after graduating from Punahou High School in Honolulu, Hawai’i, in the spring of 2012. In his senior season of 2011, he earned Third Team All-State honors as a safety and First Team All-Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) accolades. As a team captain, he helped lead Punahou High to an 11-3 record and an appearance in the state championship game where Punahou High finished as the state runner-up. He captained his high school track and field team his sophomore, junior and senior years. His high school track and field team won the state team titles his sophomore and junior seasons and placed third his senior year. As a sophomore, he was part of the 4-by-400 and 4-by-100-meter state championship relay teams. The 4-by-100 team set a state record. As a junior, he once again was a member of the state champion 4-by-400-meter relay squad, and he placed fourth in state in the 200 meters. As a senior, he was part of the state championship 4-by-400-meter relay team. He played for head football coach Kale Ane. 

Personal: Born Aug. 15, 1994, he is one of four children of Heidi and Carter Kamana. His father, Carter, played football at Michigan State. His grandfather, John Kamana Jr., and uncle, John Kamana III, both played football at USC. Coming out of high school, Kamana was also recruited by Army and Hawai’i. He is majoring in finance at UW.
