Biography

UW This Season: Gilliland finished the spring second on the depth chart at defensive tackle. He will add depth to the Pokes’ front four. 

2016: Gilliland appeared in all 12 games, but did not record any statistics. 

2015: Redshirted.

High School:
Gilliland earned First Team All-State Class 2A as a senior as presented by the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAANow.com), ColoradoPreps.com and MaxPreps.com. The CHSAA team was selected by Colorado high school coaches. He was also an Honorable Mention All-State Class 2A selection by The Denver Post in 2014. Gilliland played both offensive guard and defensive tackle for Sterling High School. He was credited with 84 tackles his senior season, broke up four passes, recovered three fumbles and had 1.0 sack. He helped lead Sterling High to the First Round of the Colorado Class 2A State Playoffs, where they lost a heartbreaking, one-point game (29-28) to No. 5 seed Gunnison in the opening round. His high school football coach was Rob Busmente. Gilliland also played baseball and competed in track and field in high school.
