Career Stats Career Statistics Biography Summary Biography UW This Season: Ethan Wood will enter his senior season having started every game of his career -- 36 consecutive starts. He was named to the Ray Guy Award Watch List a year ago. The Ray Guy Award honors the top college punter in the nation each season. 2015: Wood started all 12 games at punter and also handled kickoff duties for the Cowboys. He ranked No. 7 in the Mountain West and No. 52 in the nation in punting average (41.8 yards per punt). He placed 19 of his 67 punts inside the opponents’ 20-yard line during the 2015 season, and had 12 punts of 50 or more yards. He helped the Cowboys rank No. 21 in the nation in punt return defense, allowing opponents an average of only 4.6 yards per punt return. Wood also helped the Pokes rank No. 40 in the nation in net punting, averaging 38.6 net yards per punt. Wood averaged 62.4 yards per kickoff with 16 touchbacks. He recorded a career-high 67-yard punt against Eastern Michigan, and recorded a career-high seven punts three times versus: North Dakota, Boise State and San Diego State. Wood averaged 50.0 yards per punt against Eastern Michigan, which was a season high. He punted for 377 yards on eight punts averaging 47.1 yards at Air Force. 2014: Wood started all 12 games recording 66 punts for an average of 41.4 yards per kick. He recorded 18 punts inside opponents’ 20-yard line. Wood forced opponents to fair catch 18 punts. He booted a career-long punt of 67 yards against Boise State. 2013: Wood took over punting and kickoff duties as a true freshman and performed admirably. He punted 69 times for an average of 42.0 yards per boot. He had 13, 50-yard plus punts for the season. In his very first college game, he had an outstanding debut for versus Nebraska, averaging 52 yards per kick, including a 61-yard punt. For the season, he averaged 61.3 yards per kickoff and recorded 21 touchbacks. High School: Wood was an accomplished athlete in both football and soccer at Liberty High School, earning two all-state nods in soccer and an all-conference nod in football as a senior. He was the team MVP of his freshman soccer team. Personal: Born Oct. 20, 1993, he is the son of the late John and the late Resia Wood. He has four siblings: Dan, Josh, Kevin and Lisa. His brother Josh played football at Chadron State and Black Hills State. Kevin ran track at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, and Dan ran track at Embry Riddle. Wood is pursuing a degree in social science at UW.
