Biography

UW This Season: Entering his final campaign, Jones was the top boundary cornerback on the final depth chart following spring drills.

2013: Jones had a career-high 39 tackles in 12 games for the Pokes. His best game of the season came against Boise State, when he racked up six tackles and an interception. He had seven stops and a forced fumble and recovery against Hawai'i, and posted a season-high eight tackles versus Fresno State.

2012: Jones had one of the Pokes' six interceptions of the season. Versus Cal Poly, Jones picked off a pass and returned it 14 yards, to go along with four tackles. He had six stops versus Fresno State. In 12 games, he had 21 tackles and one pass breakup.

2011: One of the most valuable special teamers at UW, Jones was lauded by the Wyoming coaching staff as a consistent player all season, and versus UNLV, he came up big. Jones' huge block on a punt return sprung teammate Chris McNeill to a 76-yard TD versus the Rebels. McNeill later won the Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week. Jones also played on the defensive side of the ball, seeing time at corner in several games. Jones played in all 13 games as a freshman and had 11 tackles.

High School: Jones was a running back and defensive back at Harker Heights High School in Killeen, Texas. His senior season, he rushed for 389 yards on 95 carries and scored seven rushing touchdowns. He ranked No. 15 in rushing yards in District 12-5A for the 2010 season. Jones returned 10 kickoffs for 310 yards and one touchdown to rank No. 4 in kickoff returns in District 12-5A. His longest run from scrimmage was 59 yards, and his long kickoff return of the year went for 88 yards. He also added four receptions for 31 yards. His best individual rushing game of his senior season came against A&M Consolidated as he carried the ball 21 times for 168 yards and three touchdowns. In the season finale against Georgetown High, Jones also scored three touchdowns rushing as he accounted for 77 yards rushing on 26 carries. A multi-sport athlete at Harker Heights, he lettered in football three years, lacrosse one year and track and field once. He played for head football coach Mike Mullins.

Personal: Born March 9, 1993, he is the son of Sonji Jones, and has one older sibling, Diarrio, and one younger, Isaiah. Jones was also recruited by Baylor, Colorado and UTEP. He is pursuing a degree in communications at UW.
