Career Stats Career Statistics Biography Summary Biography UW This Season: Projected to start at the left tackle spot, Josh Leonard is one of the more experienced linemen for the Cowboys this fall. He has played multiple spots along the line, and that versatility is an asset. 2011: Leonard played in 11 games in 2011, starting three at the right tackle spot. He has 13 career starts under his belt after starting 10 of 12 games as a sophomore at right tackle. Leonard was a pivotal part of a Cowboy offense that rushed for 382 yards versus Texas State, including two 100-yard rushers in Ghaali Muhammad and Brandon Miller. While Leonard was in the starting lineup versus the Bobcats, the Cowboy offense rolled up 618 yards, which was a season high. He earned his third letter for the Cowboys. 2010: Leonard stepped into the starting role at right tackle his sophomore season. He started the first six games of the season and the last four, both at right tackle. Leonard helped block for former UW running back Alvester Alexander, who gained 792 yards and scored 14 touchdowns on the season. 2009: Leonard played in two games as a freshman -- at Florida Atlantic and at home against New Mexico. He originally signed as a grayshirt in February 2008, meaning he didn't join the Cowboy Football program until January of 2009, and he didn't go on scholarship until then. High School: Leonard earned All-Conference honors in football as an offensive lineman and defensive end his senior season. His Helena High team posted an 8-4 record and advanced to the semifinals of the state playoffs in Class AA -- the largest classification in the state of Montana. Leonard was credited with 80 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and two sacks as a senior. Also as a senior, he placed fourth in the state wrestling championships, earning him All-State recognition. Leonard was an All-Conference selection his junior year, as well, as his team went 9-3 and made it to the semifinals of state. He made 40 tackles, 12 TFLs, four sacks and blocked one punt as a junior. Leonard was elected a team captain in football both seasons. He played for head coach Tony Arnston at Helena High School. Personal: Born Dec. 8, 1989, his guardians are Katie and Dustin Temple. He was also recruited by Idaho State, Montana and Montana State. Leonard is majoring in criminal justice.
