Career Stats Career Statistics Biography Summary Biography UW This Season: Korey Jones enters the 2012 season as the No. 1 player at the weak-side linebacker spot. A dynamic player and leader, he was selected as one of four captains entering the 2012 season, after being in the Cowboy Football program only one year. He is a leading All-Conference candidate. 2011: Jones seized the opportunity to be an immediate contributor for the Cowboys, starting 11 of 13 games at defensive end and linebacker. He started at defensive end for five games, and then moved to the middle linebacker spot for the next eight games. His breakout game came versus Texas State, in which he tallied four tackles and four sacks for 29 yards. Three of those sacks came on successive plays, and the total of four ranked him 12th in the Mountain West. Jones had five or more tackles in seven games, and he was eighth on the team tackles list with 59 for the year. He was third on the team in tackles for loss with six. Jones had a fumble recovery against Air Force to stop a scoring threat for the Falcons with the Pokes clinging to a 12-10 lead in the third quarter. He earned his first letter for the Pokes. Junior College: Originally from Fort Collins, Colo., Jones was one of the leading tacklers in the nation at Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kan. Jones ranked No. 10 in the nation in tackles with 108, including 57 solo tackles and 51 assists. He also recorded 4.0 sacks for 26 yards and had one fumble recovery. He was named Honorable Mention All-Conference as a sophomore in 2010. Garden City was also one of the nation's best defensive units in junior college football in 2010. The Broncbusters ranked No. 9 in the nation in total defense (allowing only 214.8 yards per game), were No. 11 in pass defense (131.5 yards per game) and ranked No. 13 in rushing defense (83.3 yards per game). High School: Jones played his high school football at Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins where he played for former Wyoming Cowboy Mark Brook.
