2016-17: Was crowned the Mountain West champion in the hammer throw with a toss of 197-8 after a brilliant outdoor season…won the event at five meets and finished top-three in three others…posted a career-best mark of 198 feet even in the event at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate…also earned six top-five finishes in the discus, including a fourth-place effort at the MW outdoor championships with a mark of 165-10…advanced to the NCAA West Preliminary Round in the hammer throw, taking 39^th at 191-7…indoors, took seventh in the weight throw and ninth in the shot put at the MW championships…named to the Academic All-Mountain West team for the fourth time in his career.
 
2015-16: Indoors, competed in six meets, collecting eight top-five individual event finishes...placed second in the shot put and weight throw at Wyoming’s Power Meet…nearly reached the podium for the weight throw at the MW outdoor championships, tossing 57-7.75…redshirted the outdoor season…named Academic All-MW in the classroom, recording a 3.38 GPA.
 
2014-15: Indoors threw in seven meets...placed fourth in the weight throw at the MW Championships with a personal-best toss of 62-8...also notched a personal-best throw of 53-7 1/2 in the shot put at the Rocky Mountain Classic on Feb. 20...outdoors competed in eight meets...placed fourth in the hammer at the conference meet...also placed fifth in the discus with a personal-best throw of 171-8...posted a personal-best throw in the hammer with a mark of 189-9 at the Jack Christiansen Invite on April 25...named MW Academic All-Conference in the classroom...also earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
 
2013-14: Indoors competed in the shot put and weight throw...top performance in the shot put was 50-4 3/4 at the Powder River Dual on Jan. 31...top showing in the weight throw was 59-4 at the MW Championships to place 10th in the event...also competed in the shot put at the conference meet...outdoors did the discus and hammer...best mark in the discus was 165-7 at the CU Invite on April 12...best hammer showing was 177-1 at the Quiller Classic on March 22...placed ninth in both events at the MW Championships...named MW Academic All-Conference in the classroom.
 
Before Wyoming: One of the top throwers in the Northwest region under coach and father Kyle Unland at Ferris High School...won the state title in the discus from his sophomore to senior season...also was runner-up at the state meet in the shot put as a senior...owned personal best of 190-3 in the discus, 57-8 1/2 in the shot put and 178-11 in the hammer...won the prestigious Arcadia Invitational in 2013 with a discus throw of 190-3...also lettered four years in football...earned first-team all-league honors four times and all-state honors as a senior.
 
Personal: The son of Kyle and Cori Unland...Kyle was an All-American in the hammer at Washington State while a teammate of Wyoming coach Paul Barrett...Damon has three brothers, Kirk, Ethan and Grayson...born on Dec. 7, 1994, in Olympia, Wash...majoring in mechanical engineering at UW.
