2021-22: Buchanan put together a tremendous junior campaign which saw him become just the fourth two-time All-American in program history after finishing third at the NCAA Tournament…Was tabbed as the No. 2 seed at the NCAA Tournament… He also became just the fourth Cowboy in program history to win a Big 12 title and the first to do so at 197 pounds defeating No. 16 Tanner Sloan (SDSU) in the championship bout… Opened his season by winning the Cowboy Open with three straight bonus point victories… Won the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational knocking off No. 7 Patrick Brucki (MICH) and No. 10 Eric Schultz (NEB) in consecutive bouts to capture the title… Posted a 16-3 record on the season against ranked opponents never losing a match to an unranked opponent… Finished his season by winning 15 of his final 16 matches…  Led the team in bonus point wins with 17 including eight wins via pin… Excelled in the classroom as well earning Second Team Academic All Big 12 Honors


2020-21: In his sophomore season Buchanan earned All-American status finishing 8th at the NCAA Tournament, it was his first time competing at the NCAA Tournament… Qualified for his second straight NCAA tournament… Won the Cowboy Challenge tournament going 2-0 defeating No. 2 Noah Adams (WVU) in the finals… Earned his second career Big 12 Wrestler of the Week honors after defeating at the time No. 1 and unbeaten Noah Adams (WVU)… Won the UVU Round Robin tournament in dominant fashion… Recorded three wins over top six ranked opponents during his season… Pinned the No. 9 seed at the NCAA tournament during his run to All-American Status… Recorded five bonus point wins on the season

2019-20: Buchanan had a stellar season as a true freshman for the Cowboys as he tallied 26 wins and qualified for the NCAA Championships … recorded a trio of ranked victories on the season … led the Cowboys with 36 takedowns during dual action … placed seventh at the Big 12 Championships … had 13 dual wins and 46 points scored for the Pokes … recorded four falls and five major decisions on the year … won both the Cowboy and UNC Open … placed fourth at the Reno T.O.C. … finished his season wrestling five ranked opponents in his final six matches … named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week Feb. 11 after he beat 7th-ranked Dakota Geer of Oklahoma State, 8-6.

High School: Buchanan was a two-time state champion … posted a high school record of 184-16 in four seasons … was named all-conference all four years in high school … placed third at the 2018 Iowa Nationals
