He took over the starting role at 174 following the Riley Davis injury. Short went 0-2 as an unseeded wrestler at the Big 12 Tournament. He went 2-6 in duals, 2-4 at 174 and 0-2 at 184. Short was 5-6 overall at 174 pounds. He was 9-9 in regular-season tournaments. 2022-23 (Redshirt-Freshman): Short moved into a starting role in his second season at Wyoming, starting in nine duals for the Cowboys. He posted back-to-back dual wins over Northern Colorado and Utah Valley, defeating Utah Valley’s Hon Rushton, 7-1, helping the Cowboys to a dual victory over the Wolverines. Short had a highlight upset win over No. 10 ranked Layne Malcsewski (MSU), pinning the top-ten foe in 2:03. He finished second at the Reno Tournament of Champions helping push the Cowboys to second-place finish in the team standings. Short opened his season by winning the Cowboy Open with a perfect 4-0 record and three-bonus point wins. He finished fifth at the Soldier Salute. Short competed in his first Big 12 Tournament. 2021-22 (Redshirt): Short competed in two open tournaments, totaling seven wins. He won the Mines Rookie Open, going 4-0 at the tournament, defeating Air Force’s Andrew Wenzel in the finals, 2-0. High School: Short is a three-time state place winner finishing as runner-up twice. In 2018, he was USA Wrestling Cadet Freestyle National Champion. Short was ranked as one of the top 100 recruits of the class of 2021 by FloWrestling.
