2018-19: Went 6-2 on the year competing in open tournaments … Took first at 149 pounds at the Northern Colorado Open, going 4-0 and knocking off fellow Cowboy Jacob Greenwood in the finals … Also appeared at the Cowboy Open.
2017-18: Went 21-8 overall as a sophomore, competing at 149 pounds … Posted eight falls, four tech falls and three major decisions, competing primarily in open tournaments … Got a win in his lone dual start of the year, pinning Air Force’s Dane Robbins in the first period … Took top honors at the Colorado Mesa Open, defeating Dre-Son Scruggs of Utah Valley in the finals … Went 3-2 at the Cowboy Open … Went 4-2 at the Northern Colorado Open … Finished fourth at the UNK Holiday Inn Open … Also competed at the Reno Tournament of Champions … Named to the second team of the Academic All-Big 12 squad.
2016-17: Hornickle posted a 13-4 record during the 2016-17 season. He took part in two duals in addition to four tournaments. At UWW Nationals, Hornickle brought home a 7-3 mark at 66 KG with his own impressive six match win streak in the consolation bracket. He was one of three Pokes to qualify for the United States UWW Junior World Team Trials. Hornickle began the season with a title at the Cowboy Open. He then took third at the UNC Open before claiming his second title of the season at the Northwest Open. In his first dual action of the season, Hornickle pinned Bryce Parson of Oregon State to help secure a win for UW over the Beavers.
2015-16: Hornickle finished his redshirt season with a 23-7 overall record and 11 pins. He placed third or better in three of the four open tournaments he competed in and also placed fourth in the Northern Colorado Open. Hornickle took third in both the Cowboy Open and UNK Holiday Inn Open. He then closed out his rookie campaign placing second at the Utah Valley Open. Hornickle qualified for the UWW Junior World Team Trials and finished in third-place at UWW Junior Nationals.
High School: A graduate of Burlington High School in Burlington, Wisc. Hornickle was a three-time placer at the state championships. He finished second in the state his senior season with a record of 52-2. He earned a pair of fourth-places finishes his freshman and sophomore seasons. For his high school career he sported a record of 167-18.
Personal: He was born on April 10, 1997. He is the son of Patrick and Becky and has one sister Riley. He plans on majoring in marketing at UW.
