KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Wyoming women's golf team finished up its second round of play at the Kiawah Island Spring Classic on Monday morning at the par-72, 5,941-yard Oak Point Golf Club.
Â
Wyoming finished the day in 26th out of 49 teams, at 40-over through 36 holes. The team carded a 23-over 311 team score on the day at Oak Point, which has on average played a couple of strokes harder this week than Osprey Point where the Pokes played their first round on Sunday. North Florida leads the field heading into the final round at 1-over for the week.
Â
"This course we played today is much different than yesterday and we found some trouble off the tee which hurt us," head coach
Josey Stender said. "We have an opportunity to move up and have a competitive finish but we will have to manage the course better tomorrow.
Â
"Overall this has been a great experience for us. Competing on a different style of course and part of the country will only benefit us down the road."
Â
The Cowgirls were just a couple of strokes short of advancing into Tuesday's championship round with the top 24 teams at Osprey Point. They will instead play their final 18 at Oak Point.
Â
The Cowgirls were once again led by junior
Erin Sargent, who is sitting in 39th at 4-over for the week after carding a 75 on Monday morning to follow up a 73 in Sunday's first round. Sargent's round included a pair of birdies, and an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole.
Â
Caitlyn Skavdahl turned in her best score of the week so far with a 77 to sit in a tie for 140th heading into Tuesday's final round. Cowgirl
Sarah Hankins is also tied with Skavdahl in 140th after a second-round 81 on Monday.
Â
