GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Cowgirl golf is seventh after Monday's opening round of the Bobcat Desert Classic at the par-72, 6,218-yard Golf Club of Estrella.
 
Kira Reisner shot a 73 (+1) and Kiley Reisner carded a 74 (+2) to lead Wyoming.
 
The Cowgirls finished the first round of the 54-hole tournament at +12, which has them one shot behind sixth-place Utah Tech and one shot ahead of eighth-place Cal Baptist. Host Montana State (-1) leads the 13-team event.
 
Kiley Reisner is the reigning Mountain West co-golfer and co-freshman of the week after finishing tied for fourth at last week's Cowgirl Classic at 9-under par. Reisner's 54-hole score of 207 set a UW record for lowest event score, breaking the previous record of 209 set by teammate Elle Higgins at the Wolverine Classic during the fall schedule.
 
Kira Reisner had two birdies and three bogeys on Monday. Kiley Reisner and Elle Higgins (+4) played well for most of the round but were done in by two double bogeys each on the back nine.

This will be the final tournament of the season for the Cowgirls before the Mountain West Championships April 21-23 in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
