GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Kiley Reisner's rewriting of the Wyoming women's golf record book continued Wednesday when the freshman phenom won the individual trophy at the Bobcat Desert Classic.

Reisner, who was tied with four other players atop the leaderboard after 36 holes, shot 3-under 69 in the final round to win the title by three strokes. Her three-round score of 211 (-5) is the third lowest in program history.

During the Cowgirl Classic a week earlier, Reisner reset UW's individual low event score (207), breaking the record of 209 set by teammate Elle Higgins in September at the Wolverine Invitational.

"Kiley's performance the last two events has been pretty incredible," UW head coach Josey Stender said. "Today she showed a lot of maturity and grit as she did not have her best stuff but managed to score well."

Reisner, who won the Thunderbird Classic last month in St. George, Utah, is the first player in program history to win two tournaments in the same year since 1989 when Kelly Meyers won the Jacoby Collegiate Invite and the Air Force Falcon Invite. Jordan Lintz holds the UW record for most individual tournament wins with three (1998 Cowgirl Challenge, 1999 Fighting Camel Classic and 2000 Mountain West Championship).

After shooting 74 in the opening round of the Bobcat Desert Classic at the par-72, 6,218-yard Golf Club of Estrella, Reisner shot 68 (-4) in the second round, which is tied for second on UW's low individual round list. She also carded a 68 at the Cowgirl Classic.

"It is extremely difficult and rare to earn individual victories in our sport and to accomplish that in her first year is phenomenal," Stender said.

The Cowgirls finished fourth in the 13-team tournament with a 54-hole score of 808 (+16). UW's 288 in the second round Tuesday was the fourth lowest team round total in program history and Wednesday's 292 is tied for the 10th lowest team round in program history.

Seattle (873) held off host Montana State (876) for the team title.

Kira Reisner (+5) finished tied for 12th and Higgins (+7) finished tied for 23rd for the Cowgirls. Senior Meghan Vogt (+9) shot 73, her best round of the tournament, to finish 30th in the 80-player field.

Reisner, the reigning Mountain West co-golfer and co-freshman of the week, birdied her final hole to put an exclamation point on the victory. Seattle's Zoe Rubichon, Utah Tech's Samantha Phelan and Eastern Washington's Berkley Ledesma tied for second at -2 for the tournament.

The Cowgirls will ride the momentum into the Mountain West Championships April 21-23 in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

"I'm very pleased with our round as a team and our finish as we head into the Mountain West Championships," Stender said. "We had to grind it out after facing some adversity at first. Our goal will be to continue our positive energy and consistent tournament preparation."
