GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Cowgirl golf returns to action at the Bobcat Desert Classic on Monday at the par-72, 6,218-yard Golf Club of Estrella.
Wyoming, led by reigning
Mountain West co-golfer and co-freshman of the week Kiley Reisner, is coming off a ninth-place finish at the
Cowgirl Classic.
Reisner shared both honors with Grand Canyon's Alexis Vakasiuola after the two outstanding freshmen tied for fourth at the Cowgirl Classic at 9-under par. Reisner's 54-hole score of 207 sets a UW record for lowest event score, breaking the previous record of 209 set by teammate
Elle Higgins at the Wolverine Classic during the fall schedule.
The Cowgirls will compete against 12 other teams at the 54-hole Bobcat Desert Classic, including host Montana State. UW finished fifth in this event in 2025.
Higgins,
Meghan Vogt,
Kira Reisner, and
Emerson Purcell will join
Kiley Reisner in the lineup.
Sophie Spiva is playing as an individual. Teams will play 18 holes per day through Wednesday.
"I've been very pleased with our tournament schedule this season, a great variety of tournament fields, golf courses and now we are in healthy rhythm as we approach postseason," UW head coach
Josey Stender said. "Estrella has a target, desert style layout, a little different than what we just played, but the approach is going to be the same, be aggressive when allowed and play confidently."
This will be the final tournament of the season for the Cowgirls before the Mountain West Championships April 21-23 in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
