Biography

Senior (2016) | Match-By-Match Statistics

Courtney Chacon closed out her career with the Brown Gold with another tremendous season • Chacon started in 30 of the 31 matches during the 2016 season • She was named to the all-tournament team at the Idaho Volleyball Classic and also the UniWyo Invite • Against San Jose State (9/22), Chacon became just the sixth Cowgirl in program history to record 3,000 assists in a career • She joined Chris Lambert (1983-86) and Jil Robins (1991-94) as the only Cowgirls with at least 3,000 assists and 900 digs during their career • After a straight-set victory over Utah State (10/1), Chacon was awarded her first MW Offensive Player of the Week award • She passed out 40 assists and nine digs against the Aggies • Chacon led the team with 994 assists (9.04 aps) and was also fourth on the team with 237 total digs (2.15 dps) in 2016 Chacon recorded a team-best ten double-doubles during her senior season She led UW in assists in every match during the year • Chacon dished out at least 20 assists 30 times this season, and also had 30 or more in 18 different matches • In the season finale against Border War rival Colorado State (11/22), Chacon recorded a career-best 60 assists • She led all active MW players with 37 career double-doubles during the 2016 season, which is one shy of being tied tenth all-time in MW history • Chacon closed out her illustrious career sixth all-time  in assists (3,352) and sets played (441) • She is also tenth all-time with 943 career digs. • Along with Laura Beach and Kayla Slofkiss, Chacon won 85 matches as Cowgirls • The 85 victories are third all-time as a class • Additionally, was again an Academic All-MW selection. 

Junior (2015) Match-By-Match Statistics

Chacon played in all 30 matches during her junior season, starting in 19 and totaling 116 sets • Was key in directing the team to a .209 hitting efficiency, averaging 5.40 assists per set • Second on the team with ten double-doubles • Led UW in assists 23 times during her junior campaign, and recorded at least 25 in nine different matches • Totaled 248 digs, 23 service aces and led the team with 626 assists • Named to the UniWyo Pistol Pete’s Showdown All-Tournament team • Is currently ninth on the all-time list with 2,358 assists for her career • Against Ohio State (8/28/15), she recorded 21 assists and six digs • Her first double-double came against Butler (8/29/15), with 19 assists and 11 digs • Logged 28 assists and ten digs against Montana (9/5/15) for a double-double and dished out 22 assists with 11 digs against Marquette (9/11/15) • Against Utah State (9/26/15), Chacon became just the ninth Cowgirl in school history to record at least 2,000 career assists • Finished the match with 22 assists and 14 digs for another double-double • Directed the team to a season-high .354 hitting clip against San Diego State (10/1/15), dishing out 19 assist to go along with three digs • At Nevada (10/3/15), Chacon posted a solid 25 assists and 11 digs, before 19 assists and a career-high 16 digs at San Jose State (10/15/15) • Led Wyoming with 24 assists and 16 digs at New Mexico (11/5/15), and had ten digs and a season-best 31 assists at Air Force (11/7/15) • Had 25 assists and 14 digs at Fresno State (11/18/15), and recorded 26 assists and 16 digs against Colorado State (11/24/15) • An Academic All-MW and Scholar Athlete selection.

Sophomore (2014)| Match-By-Match Statistics

Started in 29 of 31 matches she played and 116 sets at the setter position • Led the team in assists with 1,206 (10.40 asps) • Also recorded 273 digs (2.44 dps) and 26 service aces (0.23 saps) • In league matches, she averaged 9.76 assists and 2.40 digs per set • Ranked fourth overall, seventh in league matches and 86th in the nation in the same category • Had a career-high six kills and 13 attempts against UNLV (10/30/14) • Had a career-high 57 assists against Boise State (10/25/14) • Recorded a career-high 22 digs against New Mexico (10/18/14) • Finished with 56 assists against Air Force (10/16/14) • Finished with a 52 assists and 12 digs against Cal Poly (8/30/14) • Earned MVP honors at the Montana Invite after averaging 13.40 assists and 2.60 digs • Recorded 20 or more assists in all 31 matches and recorded double-doubles 11 times • Moved into ninth place all-time in assists with 1,732 • Garnered Academic All-MW and Scholar Athlete honors.

Freshman (2013)| Match-By-Match Statistics

Appeared in 30 matches with 19 starts while playing in 99 sets on the season • Started in her first career match against Montana State (8/31/13) • Second on the team in assists averaging 5.31 per set with 526 on the year • Added 179 digs (1.81 dps) • In MW matches, she averaged 2.16 assists, while adding 79 digs (1.41 dps) • Recorded a season-high 53 assists against Montana State • Named to UniWyo Wyoming Invite All-Tournament team • Earned Academic All-MW and Scholar-Athlete honors.

High School: A MaxPreps 2012 Volleyball Medium Schools Third Team All-American and Denver Post and MaxPreps All-Colorado Volleyball selection • Earned First Team All-State, 3A Denver Post Player of the Year and 3A MVP of the State Tournament • Selected to play in the CCGS All-State Games and the CHSAA All-State games • Helped her team to a perfect 29-0 record en route to a Colorado 3A State Championship • A four-time All-Patriot League honoree, she was twice selected Second Team All-State (2011, 2009) and First Team All-State (2010) • Her team won a second 3A State Championship in 2010, while they finished third in the tournament in 2011 • Was coached in high school by Rene Aafedt • Also lettered in track and field and basketball • Led her club team to two first place finishes at the Colorado Crossroads Tournament and a first place spot at the Northern Lights Tournament • They also finished in the Top 13 the last six years and had a third place finish in 2008 at the Junior National Tournament • A member of the National Honor Society and Honor Roll among other scholastic honors.

Personal: Majoring in speech language and hearing science • Is joined on the roster by cousin, Cori Aafedt • Born October 13, 1994 in Greeley, Colo. • Has one brother, Brendan • Courtney Michelle Chacon is the daughter of Paul and Michelle Chacon.
