2018-19: Posted a 7-10 overall record with a 1-1 record in duals, competing primarily at 133 pounds … Recorded three falls on the year … Won his first career dual match, defeating Army’s Conner Ziegler, 6-2, in the Cowboys’ win over the Black Knights … Took sixth at the Northern Colorado Open, going 3-3 … Also appeared at the Cowboy Open, Nebraska-Kearney Open and Reno Tournament of Champions.

2017-18: Went 1-4 during his redshirt freshman season, competing at 125 in open tournaments … Appeared at the Cowboy Open and UNK Holiday Inn Open.

2016-17: McConnell redshirted during the 2016-17 season. He did compete in both the Cowboy and Northwest Open for the Brown and Gold. McConnell picked two victories during the Northwest Open, with one fall and one major decision.

High School: McConnell was a two-time state champion for Lander Valley. He won the Class 3A 106-pound title as a sophomore and the 113-pound title as a junior. McConnell finished third at 126 pounds during his senior season. 

Personal: McConnell was born in Lander, Wyo., and is the son of Michael and Anjie McConnell. He has one younger sibling, Kiley McConnell and plans to study animal science at UW. His grandfather, Gary Frank wrestled for Wyoming.
