2016-17: Barnes appeared in 15 games with five starts. He averaged 1.3 points per game and 1.1 rebounds per night. He started the final two games of the CBI. He added two points and three rebounds in the third game of the series.
2015-16: Jonathan Barnes made 23 starts for the Cowboys in 2015-16 and appeared in 28 games during the season. He averaged 1.9 points and 1.7 rebounds in 10.4 minutes per game, while shooting 46 percent from the field. Barnes' top showing was a career-high 10 points in a career-high 28 minutes against California on Dec. 5. He also tied his career high of four rebounds four times during the season.
2014-15: Barnes played in 14 games during the 2014-15 campaign. He averaged 1.4 points and 1.1 rebounds in 4.5 minutes per game, while shooting 50 percent from the field. His top performance was eight points and four rebounds against Regis on Dec. 7. He played a career-high 15 minutes versus Florida A&M on Nov. 24.
Before Wyoming: Barnes signed with Wyoming in November of 2013. Barnes excelled for Ponderosa High School under coach Mike Gibbs. Rivals.com ranked the 6-10, 250-pound Barnes as the ninth-best recruit in Colorado.
As a senior in 2013-14, Barnes averaged a double-double of 12.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game, while adding 3.3 blocks. He shot 56 percent from the field. Against Cheyenne Mountain he posted a career-high 28 points to go with 10 rebounds and three blocks. As a junior in 2012-13, Barnes averaged 14.9 points and 9.5 rebounds, while shooting more than 65 percent from the field. He recorded career-highs with 25 points, 12 rebounds and nine blocks against Pueblo Central in early December and ended the season with six double-doubles. Barnes played his AAU basketball with the Colorado Hawks, but played just three years of organized basketball prior to joining the Cowboys.
Personal: Barnes was also recruited by Pepperdine, Utah, Washington State and LaSalle. He is majoring in communications at Wyoming.
