2018-19: Mueller appeared in eight games with eight starts for the Cowboys until a season ending injury. He was granted a medical redshirt. He averaged 3.9 points per game to go along with 3.6 rebounds in 29.5 minutes of play per game. He was effective from the line shooting 75 percent. He recorded a career-high eight points against Oregon State. He also grabbed a career-high five rebounds three times; UC Santa Barbara, Niagara and Boston College.
2017-18: Mueller appeared in 13 games last season and became a part of the Pokes’ rotation late in the season. He averaged 1.1 points per game and 0.5 rebounds per night. He shot 56 percent from the field going 5-of-9. He scored a career-high five points in a home contest against New Mexico. He added three points on his first career triple at San Jose State. He grabbed a career-high three rebounds twice once against Air Force and once against San Jose State, which both came in Laramie.
2016-17: Austin Mueller redshirted the 2016-17 season and did not play in a game, but did help the Cowboys by serving on the scout team.
High School: Mueller, a 6-6, 200-pound forward played under coach Joe Ortiz at ThunderRidge High School. As a junior he helped lead the Grizzlies to a 24-4 overall record and an appearance in the Colorado Class 5A state championship game. He scored eight points in the title game, but ThunderRidge lost to Overland, 55-42, thanks to a game-high 18 points from current Cowboy Austin Conway. Mueller earned All-Continental League honors last season and was also recruited by Colorado, Northeastern, Denver and Northern Colorado. He verbally committed to the Pokes on June 17.
Personal: Austin is the son of Tim and Melinda Mueller. Tim played basketball collegiately at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, where he was an NCAA Division III All-American in 1988.
