LARAMIE, Wyoming (2/12/26) – The NCAA released its second Coaches' Ranking and its first RPI on Thursday. The University of Wyoming wrestling team was well represented in both polls.
No. 5
Joey Novak (197) headlines the Pokes in the Coaches' Ranking. He's 12-2 on the season with six ranked wins. Novak couldn't be ranked in the RPI because he doesn't have the required 15 bouts competed at this point in the season.
No. 7
Christian Carroll (HWT) holds the same post in both the Coaches' Ranking and the RPI. He's 17-4 overall and possesses six ranked wins.
No. 9
Eddie Neitenbach (184) rounds out the top 10 Cowboys in the Coaches' Ranking. He is, however, No. 6 in the RPI, possessing a 15-5 overall mark and eight of those wins are against ranked foes.
No. 23
Luke Willochell (133) is thought of more highly in the RPI, boasting the No. 15 spot. He's 13-7 on the year and owns a trio of ranked wins.
No. 30
Gabe Willochell (149) is also higher in the RPI at No. 24. He's 13-6 on the season and has a pair of ranked wins.
No. 32
Sloan Swan (165) makes his first appearance in the Coaches' Ranking, however, he's not ranked in the RPI. Swan is 10-10 with two ranked victories and has caught fire of late, claiming four wins in his last five bouts.
No. 33
Riley Davis (174) is the final Poke to appear in the Coaches' Ranking. He too does not appear in the RPI because he does not have 15 bouts competed.
The Coaches' Ranking and RPI are two of the many tools the selection committee will use for NCAA Championship inclusion and seeding. The other areas they look at include head-to-head competition, quality wins, conference tournament placement, results versus common opponents and win percentage.
There will be one more edition of the Coaches' Ranking and RPI set to be released Feb. 26. In addition to that, NCAA allocations for each conference will be announced.
