2025-26 (Freshman): Willochell started at 133 pounds, compiling a record of 15-12, which included a 3-8 mark against ranked competition. He qualified for the NCAA Championships as an at-large, earning the No. 29 seed. He went 0-2 in Cleveland, falling to No. 4 Aaron Seidel (Virginia Tech) and No. 13 Jacob Van Dee (Nebraska), both of which earned All-American status. Willochell represented Wyoming’s fourth consecutive true freshman to punch a ticket to NCAAs – Penn State is the only other school that can claim that. He went 1-2 at the Big 12 Championships as the No. 7 seed, defeating Geronimo Rivera (Utah Valley) before falling to No. 2 Kyler Larkin (Arizona State) and Garrett Grice (Iowa State). Willochell took fourth at the Soldier Salute Tournament, going 5-2. He burst on to the scene at the Cliff Keen Invite en route to placing sixth. He sprung two top 15 upsets as an unranked grappler, downing No. 13 Sean Spidle (Northwestern) and No. 15 Derrick Cardinal (South Dakota State). Willochell was 7-3 duals. He was also a bonus-point machine, as eight of his victories were of the bonus-point variety. Willochell also laid claim to a team-best 13 near falls. He was honored as an NWCA Scholar All-American.

High School: Willochell competed for Greater Latrobe High School. He’s a two-time state runner-up and a four-time placer.

Personal: Willochell’s older brother, Gabe, transferred to Wyoming and was a three-time NCAA qualifier as a Cowboy. The two wrestled on the same squad in 2025-26 and both punched a ticket to NCAAs. Luke Willochell is majoring in business.
