LARAMIE, Wyo. (August 29, 2024) – The University of Wyoming cross country program will kick off its 2024 season at the Wyoming Invite on Friday, at the Little America Golf Course in Cheyenne, Wyo. The Cowgirls will run at 9 a.m., and the Cowboys at 9:30 a.m.

Wyoming will run against Colorado, Colorado State, Northern Colorado and Central Wyoming C.C. Colorado men's and women's teams are nationally ranked by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) at 20th and 26th respectively while the Colorado State women's team received votes in the national poll. Both the men and women will run the 5k track, the only meet at that distance for the men and one of only two for the women.
Pokes welcome back 17 runners on the women's side and 15 on the men's, including the scoring five on both teams from last season's NCAA Mountain Regional. Returners from that group are senior

Conference coaches voted the Cowboys to finish third, Cowgirls sixth, in the Mountain West Conference Preseason Poll released on Wednesday. On Monday, the USTFCCCA Mountain Region Preseason Poll dropped with the Wyoming men ranked eighth, four behind Colorado and just one from Colorado State. The women came in at ninth, three spots behind Colorado and two behind Colorado State.
