LARAMIE, Wyo. (July 18, 2024) – The University of Wyoming golf season is right around the corner, and plenty of the Cowgirls have been busy sharpening their skills. Many of the student-athletes have participated in numerous summer tournaments and have acquitted themselves quite well.

Four Cowgirls made the final four at the Wyoming State Matchplay. Kyla Wilde won the event for the Cowgirls. She defeated former Cowgirl Morgan Ryan. Sophie Spiva and Samantha Spielman made appearances in the semifinals. That group, along with Grace Dunkleberger, also played in a U.S. Open Qualifier in Colorado. In addition, Dunkleberger made a deep run in the Colorado State Match Play.

Spielman competed in the Women's Amateur qualifying, as well. She also played in the Wyoming State Amateur, finishing second with a low round of 73. She wasn't done, as she won the First Flight of the Laramie Open, as the only female golfer in the field.

Kira Reisner's summer has been packed with golf. She earned a 10th-place finish at the SCGA Women's Qualifier. She also played in the SCGA Amateur, FCG Collegiate, and a U.S. Open qualifier.

Lucia Morelli, a native of Washington, was the 3A State runner-up and KingCo Golfer of the Year. She finished 17th at the Washington Amateur and won the WJGA Sub-District. She will play in the upcoming PNGA Amateur and WJGA District Championship.

Caroline Ryan, a Colorado native, participated in the CGA Junior Championship by way of finishing third at the Flat Irons. She also competed in the U.S. Girls Junior Qualifier.

Erika Cook, a Wyoming native, won the WSGA State Junior Championship. She also topped the field at the WJGT Buffalo Junior. She will represent Wyoming at the Girls Junior America's Cup for the third time this month.

Emerson Purcell, a native of Ohio, played in the inaugural LPGA USGA Girls Golf National Championship at Pine Needles. She recorded top-30 rounds. She also played in the Donna Andrews Invitational and will play in the GolfWeek Hoosier Amateur at the end of July.
