Colorado Springs, Colo. (Feb. 11, 2022) – The Wyoming Cowboy wrestling squad extended their win streak to three on Friday night with a 21-17 victory over the Air Force Falcons. The Cowboys won six matches on the night to seal their third straight conference win.
"Darren (Green) and Jaron (Jensen) both came from behind and picked up good wins and that's tough to do. Those kinds of victories are fulfilling and they lift the team up." Head Wrestling Coach

The first win of the night for the Pokes came at 141 pounds when
Darren Green took the mat against Cody Phippen. Green and Phippen exchanged takedowns early but it was Phippen who led going into the third period. In the third period Green stayed tough and went to work taking a 7-5 lead and hanging on put the Cowboys on the board.
At 149 pounds No. 33 ranked
Jaron Jensen made it two in a row with a gritty win over Dylan Martinez. With the match tied 4-4 in third period Jensen made the decisive move scoring a quick takedown. Martinez made it back to his feet, but Jensen put the clamps on to secure the 6-5 win.

Jacob Wright kept the win streak going at 157 pounds with a controlling win over Giano Petrucelli. Wright only notched one takedown in the contest but he dominated Petrucelli from the top position racking up over two minutes of riding time to secure his 4-1 decision victory.
At 174 pounds No. 15
Hayden Hastings produced the first bonus point win of the night against No. 30 Sam Wolf. Hastings put on a showcase in the top position controlling Wolf and scoring four point near falls twice on his way to posting a 10-0 shutout win.
No. 14 ranked
Tate Samuelson found himself in a tight battle with Jake Thompson at 184 pounds. Trailing 2-3 late in the match, Samuelson dug deep scoring a takedown with the clock running out to earn the nail biter victory.
Following up the two straight wins, No. 4
Stephen Buchanan took the mat against Cal Sund with a chance to seal the victory for Wyoming. Buchanan left no doubt dominating Sund in every position. After building up a lead, Buchanan started to chain takedowns together cruising to a 21-5 victory and securing the dual win.
Up next for the Cowboys is another road trip as they head to Morgantown, West Virginia for their final dual of the season against the West Virginia Mountaineers. That dual is set for next Friday at 6 p.m. MT.
