LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 22, 2022) – The Wyoming Cowboy Wrestling Squad hosted their final home dual of the season Saturday afternoon taking on No. 22 ranked Oregon State. The Cowboys took three of last five matches of the dual, but fell 12-22 to the Beavers.
The first win of the dual for the Cowboys came at 165 pounds as No. 15 ranked
Cole Moody faced Oregon State's Lane Stigall. After a scoreless first period, Moody scored three straight points to open the second period. From there Moody added a takedown and riding time point to cruise to the 6-2 victory.
At 174 pounds No. 12
Hayden Hastings faced off against OSU's No. 26 Mateo Olmos. Hastings scored a takedown in the first period and rode Olmos out for the rest of the period to build up his riding time. In the third period Hastings added on two escapes and a takedown to defeat Olmos 7-3. For Hastings, it was his ninth straight victory and his third straight victory over a ranked opponent.

Stephen Buchanan provided the only bonus point win for the Cowboys at 197 pounds against Ryan Reyes. Buchanan was in control of the match the entire time blitzing Reyes with his offense and running the score up to 11-3 midway through the second period. From there Buchanan locked up a cradle taking Reyes to his back and securing the pin for his 14
th win of the season.
The Cowboy Wrestling squad will return to action a week from today on Jan. 29 as they travel to Orem, Utah for a Big 12 tri-dual against No. 8 Missouri and host school Utah Valley.
