LARAMIE, Wyo. (Sept. 18, 2019) – The University of Wyoming women's tennis squad will host its annual fall tournament this weekend as the Cowgirls welcome five schools to Laramie for the Wyoming Invite.
Air Force, Central Oklahoma, Colorado State, Montana State and South Dakota will be making the trip this weekend. Play begins Friday at 1 p.m., while Saturday and Sunday will both begin at 9 a.m.
The Cowgirls had a solid start to their fall campaign last weekend at Air Force for the ITA Bedford Cup. All four doubles teams compiled 3-1 records over the weekend with the tandem of Ana Fernandez and Ana Royo making it to the championship match.
On the singles side, Mihaela Kaftanova made it to the finals of the Bravo bracket, posting a 3-1 mark over the four days. Freshmen Clara Mansart and Zarah Mughal went 3-2 in singles matches at the cup, as did Royo.
In addition to Fernandez, Kaftanova and Royo, the Cowgirls will also lean on returners Ida Krause and Maria Oreshkina. Oleksandra Balaba and Gracer Dereemer are also newcomers to the 2019-20 Wyoming squad.
