Biography

SENIOR (2021-22): Picked up 14 doubles wins and 10 singles victories in 2021-22. Kaftanova went 5-2 in the spring with partner Noesjka Brink and also had four more wins with Lucia Malinak in the spring. Went 7-7 in singles play during the spring. Finishes her career with 57 doubles wins, a mark that ranks in the top-10 all time.

JUNIOR (2021): Went 3-2 in singles play in the spring, including going 2-1 in Mountain West play. Had a team-best 14 doubles wins on the season, going 12-5 with partner Ida Krause and 2-0 with Lucia Malinak. Went 7-2 in doubles play during league play along with Krause.

SOPHOMORE (2019-20): Kaftanova was a solid player for the Cowgirls in both the fall and the spring … posted a mark of 8-6 in singles matches while going 12-10 in doubles play … went 5-2 in the spring, including a 4-1 mark at the No. 6 singles spot … was 3-1 in the fall in doubles with partner Clara Mansart … went 3-2 at No. 1 doubles in the spring along with partner Ida Krause … played at the ITA All-Americans in October … took second in singles play in the fall at the Bedford Cup

FRESHMAN (2018-19): She began her career with a 7-8 singles record during the fall. Her first career victory came against Bronte Murgett of New Mexico. Qualified for the ITA Mountain Regional. In doubles action, she went 8-8 with four different playing partners. She and Ida Kruase went 4-0 including three wins at the Red and Blue Challenge. Completed her year with a 15-12 overall singles record and 8-4 in dual play, mainly at the sixth spot. In doubles action, she went 17-17 overall with four different partners. Mainly played with Krause to finish 13-9 overall and 9-9 during the spring. The duo went 2-2 in league action.

HIGH SCHOOL: Kaftanova comes to Wyoming after an accomplished career on the juniors and women’s circuit. She was a Bulgarian U18 National Champion singles and doubles champion, while earning a women’s title in doubles. She placed fifth twice in U18 doubles European Individual Championships.

PERSONAL: Born April 6, 1999 in Sofia, Bulgaria. She is the daughter of Boris Kaftanov and Vanya Kaftanova. She has one sibling Kostadin. Majoring in marketing.
