CORNVILLE, Ariz. (March 24, 2019) – The Wyoming women's golf team closed out play at the Red Rocks Invitational on Sunday at the par-71, 5,919-yard Agave Highlands Golf Course, locking up the lowest team event score in school history.
Â
The Cowgirls took seventh as a team, turning in a 9-over 293 in their final round to finish with a 20-over 872 for the 54-hole team score. That total shatters the previous program low—a 24-over 888, set in the fall of 2017 at the Ram Fall Classic.
Â
"The team played very competitive this weekend and I'm very happy for them to earn a school record," head coach
Josey Stender said. "They all have been focused on taking care of the little things and becoming a more complete team so it is great to see it all come together this week. We are looking forward to hosting in a few weeks."

Junior
Erin Sargent also turned in a performance worthy of being included in the Cowgirl record books, as she turned in a 1-over 214 on the week to tie herself for the seventh-lowest individual tournament score-to-par in school history.
Â
Sargent finished the event in a tie for 10th following an even-par 71 in her final round. The finish marked Sargent's second top-10 performance of the season.
Â
Senior
Megan Knadler also carded an even 71 in her final round of the weekend. It was Knadler's lowest round of the weekend, and locked up a 6-over 219 (73-75-71). Knadler finished in a tie for 24th to secure her sixth top-25 finish in eight tournament appearances this year.
Â
Cowgirl
Caitlyn Skavdahl tied for 35th for her highest finish of the season thus far. Skavdahl followed up rounds of 72 and 73 on Saturday with a 76 in Sunday's final round. The redshirt sophomore's first-round 72 on Saturday was a new career high.
Â
Freshman
Samantha Hui finished off a nice week with a 9-over 222 (75-70-77) final tally. Hui tied for 38th—her fourth top-40 finish this season.
Â
Redshirt junior
Kaylee Knadler finished just a hair from being the fifth Cowgirl inside the top 40. Knadler had an impressive week, carding a 10-over 223 (75-73-75) for the tournament and tie for 41st. It marked the Cowgirl's highest finish this season.
Â
Three Cowgirls played at the event individually as well. Freshman
Michelle Nguyen tied for 65th with an 18-over 231 (74-76-81) on the weekend.
Sarah Hankins tied for 73rd with a 20-over 233 (75-79-79), and Freshman
Cristiana Ciasca finished in 103rd at 248 (77-83-88).
Â
The Cowgirls will look to finish the regular season strong when they host the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic next month. The tournament is set to tee off on April 8 in Maricopa, Ariz.
