CHENEY, Wash. (Feb. 17, 2019) – The Wyoming tennis team (5-5 overall) rebounded with a 7-0 win over the Eastern Washington Eagles on Sunday morning.  
 
"We finished the weekend on a good note," head coach Dean Clower said. "I feel like each day we are getting better and I can't ask for anything more than that. We played great tennis yesterday and today we didn't play great but grinded things out. This team has big things ahead of it and I'm excited to be a part of it."
 
In doubles, the Cowgirls opened up on a solid note by sweeping all three matches to take the first point of the day. Seniors Elisa Koonik and Tessa van Der Ploeg defeated Madeline Lamoreaux and Rylee Braeden, 6-4, while freshmen Mihaela Kaftanova and Ida Krause beat Louise Waite and Yasmin Mansouri by the same score, 6-4. Junior Ana Royo and freshman Maria Oreshkina earned a 7-5 win over Marta Heinen and Faye Worrall. .
 
Wyoming remained solid on the singles side in winning all six singles matches. van Der Ploeg dropped her first set, 7-5, but rallied back 6-3, 6-1 to defeated Lamoreaux. Koonik won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, while Oreshkina beat Worrall, 6-2, 6-2. Royo battled back after a 7-5 first set loss by winning the next two sets, 6-3, 6-0. Freshman Ana Fernandez came away with a 7-5, 6-4 victory against Heinen followed by Kaftanova with a win over Jennifer Lewis, 6-0, 6-1.
  
The Cowgirls will return to the court on Friday, March 1 against the Montana State Bobcats. The match is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Wyoming Athletic Center in Casper.
