Cowgirl Tennis Knocked Off By Gonzaga, 4-0
UW will return to the tomorrow morning
     
SPOKANE, Wash. (Feb. 16, 2019) – The Wyoming tennis team (4-5 overall) lost a 4-0 contest against the Gonzaga Bulldogs (5-1 overall) on Saturday afternoon.  
 
In doubles, the team of Kate Ketels and Haruna Tsuruta opened up the day with a 6-4 win over junior Ana Royo and freshman Maria Oreshkina. The Bulldogs clinched the doubles point with Sophie Whittle and Graciela Rosas earning a 7-6 (7-2) win over seniors Elisa Koonik and Tessa van Der Ploeg.
 
The Bulldogs were solid on the singles side as well by taking the next three points. Medvecova beat freshman Ana Fernandez in two sets, 6-1, 6-0, while Oreshkina lost to Domonique Garley, 6-3, 6-4. In the number one spot, Koonik won the first set 6-4 over the top player in the country Sophie Whittle, unfortunately dropping the next two 6-2, 6-1.
  
The Cowgirls will return to the court next tomorrow at 11 a.m. MT against the Eastern Washington Eagles.
