DALLAS, Texas (Nov. 3, 2018) – The Wyoming tennis team had an up and down day in its second day of the Red and Blue Challenge on Saturday.
In doubles play, freshmen
Mihaela Kaftanova and
Ida Krause had a solid day in doubles action going 2-0. The pair beat Ting-Ya Hsu and Sarivinoz Saidhujaeva, 6-4, followed by a 6-4 victory against Sarai Monarrez-Yesaki and Liza Buzz, 6-4. Seniors
Elisa Koonik and
Tessa van Der Ploeg lost to Ana Perez-Lopez and Vivienne Kulicke of SMU, 6-2, and Fatima Bizhukova and Marta Bellucco, 6-1. Junior
Ana Royo and freshman
Ana Fernandez fell to Emma Pieroni and Tiffany Hollebeck, 6-3, while Royo and freshman
Maria Oreshkina lost 6-3 against Carla Pons and Nanaka Takeuchi of Texas Arlington.
Kaftanova also won her lone singles match of the day with a three set victory, 2-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-6), against Pons. The other Cowgirl in the win column was Oreshkina with a 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 win over Hsu.
Wyoming will close out its fall season tomorrow beginning at 8 a.m. MT.
