Biography

2022-23 (Sophomore):  Cade McLaughlin played in all five of Wyoming’s 2022 fall tournaments, posting a 73.13 stroke average.  He recorded two Top 25 finishes, placing 19th at the Ram Masters Invitational and also finishing 11th in the individual only portion of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, where he shot a season low score of 214 (-2).  His lowest individual tournament round was a 68 (-2) in the second round of the Ram Masters Invitational.
 
2021-22 (Freshman):  McLaughlin appeared in 10 of Wyoming’s 13 tournaments his freshman season.  His best finish was a 13th-place showing in the individual portion of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational.  His lowest individual round was a 67 (-4) in the final round of the Ka’anapali Classic in Hawai’i where he also shot his lowest tournament totatl of 213 (Even) to finish 39th.  He earned both Academic All-Mountain West and MW Scholar-Athlete honors.
 
High School:  A native of Princeton, N.J., McLaughlin played golf and hockey at the Kent School in Kent, Conn., where he was named a team captain for both teams his senior year.  After focusing on hockey early in his high school career, McLaughlin shifted his focus to golf in March of 2020 when he spent an extended period of time in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic during the COVID pandemic. During his high school golf career, McLaughlin was ranked as the No. 1 golfer in the state of New Jersey.  He earned All-Founders League honors at the Kent School in golf, and he was awarded the prestigious Lion Award at Kent, which is presented to the top scholar-athlete at the school.  He also achieved High Honor Roll status at Kent.  On the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) circuit, McLaughlin won the 2020 AJGA Stan Utley Qualifier in Columbia, Mo., firing a 69 (-3) in the single-round qualifier.  At the 2021 AJGA Hale Irwin Colorado Junior at Walnut Creek Golf Preserve in Westminster, Colo., he tied for the tournament title at 214 (-2), before losing in a five-hole playoff to finish second.  McLaughlin also finished second at the 2021 AJGA Junior in Oldfield, S.C., in late June shooting a 54-hole total of 212 (-4).  As a hockey player, McLaughlin played on the 2015 Silver Stick team that won the championship in Whitby, Ontario and went on to capture the Bauer World Invite that same season in Chicago.  That 2015 team was ranked as the No. 1 youth hockey team in North America -- Canada and the United States combined.  He played for head golf coach Jeremy Sokolnicki at The Kent School. 
 
Personal:  He is the son of Marianne and Henry Courtney McLaughlin.  McLaughlin’s father played football at Boston University and his sister, Julia, played golf at Wake Forest.  McLaughlin is majoring in business economics.
