2019-20 (Senior): Dan Starzinski has had an outstanding career as a Wyoming Cowboy. He posted five Top 25 finishes in the 2019-20 season, placing 4th at The Prestige, 12th at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, 16th at the University of New Mexico William H. Tucker Invitational, 19th at the University of Denver Ron Moore Intercollegiate and 21st at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. Starzinski also was one of a select group of collegiate golfers who was invited to play in the 2019 Patriot All-America Invitational. The tournament, featuring the top collegiate golfers from around the nation, was played on Dec. 27-31 at The Wigwam Resort in Litchfield, Ariz. Each collegian played to honor a fallen or severely injured soldier. An outstanding student, he has completed his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and is currently working on his MBA. For the second consecutive year, he was named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), and he earned Academic All-Mountain West honors for the fourth straight year.
2018-19 (Junior): Starzinski enjoyed his best season yet as a Cowboy. He tied teammate John Murdock for the team lead in stroke average, averaging 71.77 strokes per tournament. He began the 2018 collegiate season with five consecutive Top 25 finishes, including his first collegiate tournament title at the Colorado State Ram Masters Invitational, where he shot a 54-hole total of 199 (-11) to capture the individual medalist honors by seven strokes over the second-place finisher. He concluded the 2018-19 season with nine Top 25 finishes for the season. During the 2018 fall season, his other Top 25 finishes included: a tie for 12th at the Air Force Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, a tie for 10th at the University of Colorado Mark Simpson Invitational, a tie for 13th at the New Mexico William H. Tucker Invite, and a tie for 25th at the University of Denver Paintbrush Invitational. In the spring of 2019, he tied for fourth at the Grand Canyon Invitational, tied for 14th at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic and tied for 22nd at the BYU Cougar Classic. Starzinski finished the season with an eighth-place showing at the Mountain West Conference Championship. In February of 2019, Starzinski was one of only 12 collegiate golfers invited to play in the 2019 Genesis Open Collegiate Showcase. The junior had an outstanding summer in 2018. He won the 2018 Wyoming State Match Play Championship in June, which earned him a spot on the state of Wyoming three-man team that played in the Pacific Coast Amateur at The Olympic Club in San Francisco in July. Starzinski also finished as the low amateur in the 2018 Laramie Open. Starzinski was honored by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar at the conclusion of his junior season. He earned Academic All-Mountain West honors for the third consecutive year.
2017-18 (Sophomore): Starzinski competed in 10 of 12 tournaments as a sophomore. He recorded the first two Top 25 finishes of his career, tying for 18th at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate and tying for 21st at the 2018 Mountain West Conference Championship. His 18th-place showing at the 2018 Desert Intercollegiate tied him for the best finish on the Cowboy team, and his 21st-place finish at the MW Championship was third best for the Cowboys. He concluded his sophomore season with a 74.11 stroke average. For the second consecutive year, Starzinski earned Mountain West Academic All-Conference honors.
2016-17 (Redshirt Freshman): He played in five events for the Cowboys, averaging 76.14 strokes per round over 14 rounds. He started the season by tying for 69th place at the USAF Gene Miranda Invitational, shooting a 234 (+18). His low tournament total for the year came at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, where he carded a 227 (+11). Starzinski ended his redshirt freshman campaign with his low round of the season, a 72 (Even) in the final round of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic. In the classroom, he was named Academic All-Mountain West and a Mountain West Scholar Athlete.
2015-16 (Freshman): Redshirted.
High School: Starzinski joined the Wyoming Golf program from Thunderbird High School in Phoenix, Ariz., where he was a four-year letterwinner under coaches Eric Gurule and Matt Schurman. Starzinski was the team captain his senior year and led the Chiefs to their third consecutive state championship. He won the 2013 Callaway Junior World Championship Qualifier #2 by three strokes, with a two round score of 142 (-2). He also excelled in the classroom, graduating with honors and a 4.1 weighted grade-point average.
Personal: He is the son of Alice and Al Starzinski and has a sister, Julia. He completed his civil engineering degree at UW and is currently working on his MBA at the University of Wyoming.
