LARAMIE, Wyoming (4/16/26) – The University of Wyoming wrestling team enjoyed one of its best seasons in program history in 2025-26. And the man who leads the program isn't going anywhere.
Head coach
Mark Branch signed a four-year extension on Thursday, which will keep him in Laramie through the 2031 season. It'll tack on a few more years to an already impressive 19-year run at the helm.
"I feel like this program is hitting its stride and realizing its potential, and I'm truly honored to be part of it," Branch said. "This is an exciting time for Wyoming wrestling and to continue calling this place my home is an immense privilege. I am humbled to have an administration that believes in me, supports our student-athletes and celebrates our success. What more could I ask for?"
Wyoming is coming off an impressively strong 2025-26 campaign. They went 8-5 in duals and 7-1 in Big 12 competition, which earned the Pokes their highest conference finish since joining the league 10 years ago.
It got even better in the postseason. Three Cowboys earned All-American status, matching a program best and marking Branch's most at a single NCAA Championships. The 38 points scored in Cleveland were the most ever for the program, and the 12th-place finish was the highest since 1967, thus the best under Branch, as well.
It was not only a tremendous finish, but the future is super bright. All three All-Americans –
Joey Novak (197),
Eddie Neitenbach (184) and
Christian Carroll (HWT) – are due back next season in addition to the NCAA qualifiers of
Luke Willochell (133) and
Riley Davis (174).
Branch is 159-99 in his 18 years at the helm. He's produced 97 NCAA qualifiers and 21 All-Americans.
