LARAMIE, Wyo. (July 30, 2024) – For the 15th consecutive year, the University of Wyoming men's golf team has earned an Outstanding Team Academic Award from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and for the third time and second-straight in school history the Cowboys also received the prestigious President's Special Recognition Award for the 2023-24 academic year.
The President's Special Recognition Award is presented to college golf programs that have achieved a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average or better for the past academic year. Wyoming was one of only 59 NCAA Division I programs to receive that recognition this year out of 297 Division I programs in the nation.
The GCAA announced its Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars for the 2023-24 season last Thursday and the University of Wyoming men's golf team led the Mountain West and was one of 25 teams in America to have five or more All-America Scholars. The five Cowboys named All-America Scholars are:
Patrick Azevedo,
Jaren Calkins,
Jimmy Dales,
Kristof Panke and
Davis Seybert.
In order to receive an Outstanding Team Academic Award from the GCAA, a team has to achieve a team grade-point average of 3.00 or above. Wyoming has met that high academic standard every season since the 2009-10 academic year -- 15 consecutive years.
