INDIAN Wells, Calif. (Feb. 20, 2024) - The Wyoming Cowboys closed out play at the Wyoming Match Play on Tuesday with a tie against Pacific in the fourth-place match. The teams went then into a team playoff with a combined score of five players and the Pokes shot even par to finish fourth in tournament winning the final two matches of the event.

Evan Johnson got us rolling with his comeback and
Patrick Azevedo followed him and they flipped the match for us," UW head coach
Joe Jensen said. "Just for our guys to play in the playoff will be a special memory. It was a good experience for us and it was our goal to win at least two matches and we did that."
Jimmy Dales earned another impressive win this time 3&2. He took a four-hole lead with a birdie on the 10th hole and cruised to his second win of the event.
Jaren Calkins won his match 2&1 sealing his win with a birdie on the 17th hole.
Johnson and Azevedo earned ties in their matches. Johnson won the final three holes with a pair of birdies including one on the final hole. Azevedo recorded a win victory on the final hole to earn the tie in his match, which sent the team match to a playoff.
Kristof Panke forfeited his match prior to play as a healthy scratch.
Colorado earned the team title with a win over Cal State Fullerton. Sacramento State finished third with a win over UC Irvine via tie breaker for most holes won.
The Pokes return to action on March 4-5 at the Lamkin San Diego Classic in San Diego, Calif.
