NORMAN, Oklahoma (11/23/24) – The No. 24 University of Wyoming wrestling team lost to No. 22 Oklahoma, 27-6, on Saturday inside McCasland Field House. The Cowboys fall to 2-2 on the season and 0-2 in Big 12 action, while the Sooners move to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in conference.

A pair of Pokes earned a victory Saturday. No. 22 Jared Hill (157) returned to his former school and remained perfect on the year. He walked away with a 4-2 decision win over Carter Schubert, improving him to 4-0.

No. 10 Joey Novak (197) also logged a win. He manufactured a 3-1 decision victory over No. 28 Bradley Hill. Novak moves to 3-1.

The dual did not get off to a solid start for Wyoming. No. 2 Jore Volk (125) was upset by No. 29 Antonio Lorenzo via decision, 3-2. It snowballed from there, as David Saenz (133) and No. 27 Cole Brooks (141) both fell by decision and major decision, respectively.

A large portion of the remaining dual was decided by just a couple of points. No. 18 Gabe Willochell (149) led for stretches of his bout with No. 17 Willie McDougald, but eventually fell in sudden victory, 8-5. No. 33 Cooper Voorhees (165) gave up a late takedown that spoiled his bout with No. 29 Tate Picklo and ended up a 5-4 decision win for Picklo. Eddie Neitenbach (184) couldn't rally, dropping a 4-3 decision to No. 22 DJ Parker, and Kevin Zimmer fell via decision, 7-6, to No. 22 Juan Mora.

Oklahoma got the largest win of the day at 174 pounds. No. 8 Gaven Sax defeated Brett McIntosh via technical fall, 15-0.

Wyoming is back in action in a couple weeks. The Cowboys participate in the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite from Dec. 6-7 inside the Las Vegas Convocation Center.
