Cowgirls Finish Eighth at CSU Colonel Wollenberg Ram Classic

Fort Collins, Colo. (Sept. 26, 2023) – The Wyoming Cowgirl Golf team wrapped up play at the CSU Colonel Wollenberg Ram Classic on Tuesday in Fort Collins, Colorado moving up one spot in the team standings to finish eighth amongst the 11-team field. Jadan Gonzalez capped off an impressive tournament with a 16thplace finish to be the Cowgirls top finisher. 

"We had to mentally grind today as a team but im proud of thier fight to move up in the standings." Head Women's Golf Coach Josey Stender said, "Jadan played very confident and mature and i am so proud of her finish." 
 
Entering the day at two under par, Gonzalez was the model of consistency shooting an even 72 in the third round to remain at two under and clinch her first top 20 finish of the season. With her her three-round total socre of 214 (-20, Gonzlaez now rnaks third all-time in program history in individual tournament score.  Kyla Wilde wrapped up her tournament with a three-round total of 225 (+9) to finish tied for 37th. The duo of Tomine Bjerkelo and Meghan Vogt all finished tied for 40th with a three-round total of 226 (+10). Morgan Ryan rounded out the Cowgirls lineup finishing tied for 44th with a three-round total of 229 (+13).
 
Competing as an individual, True Freshman Samantha Spielman had an outstanding day shooting a 71 (-1) in the third round on her way to earning her best career finish posting a total score of 219 (+2) to finish tied for 27th. Also competing as an individual, Sophie Spiva posted a three-round total of 230 (+14) to finish tied for 46th
 
As a team, the Cowgirls moved up one spot one spot in the standings finishing eighth with a score of 889 (+25) coming in seven strokes behind seventh place Southern Miss. Host school Colorado State ran away with the team title posting a score of 818 (-46) finishing 19 strokes ahead of second place Colorado. 
 
Up next for the Cowgirls will be a quick turnaround as they head to Tacoma, Washington to compete in the Pat Lesser Harbottle Seattle U. Invitaitonal hosted by Seattle Oct. 2-3.
