COLUMBIA, Missouri (12/8/23) – The University of Wyoming wrestling team faced its stiffest test of the season Friday night. The Cowboys traveled to take on No. 3 Missouri inside the Hearnes Center.
The Tigers defeated the Pokes, 40-6. Missouri racked up numerous bonus-point victories, logging three pins, one technical fall and one major decision.
The result drops the Cowboys to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the Big 12. The Tigers improve to 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in league action.

Cole Brooks (141) provided the lone bright spot for Wyoming on Friday. The newly-ranked freshman gave up an early takedown to Missouri's Owen Uhls before gaining a reversal that was followed by a pin just 2:40 into the match.
The victory moves Brooks to 7-2 on the season and a perfect 4-0 in duals. It also marks Brooks' first collegiate pin.
The evening began at 125 pounds, which featured a pair of top-15 wrestlers. Missouri's No. 14 Noah Surtin won via sudden victory, 7-4, over Wyoming's No. 10
Jore Volk.
Another top-15 matchup pitted Wyoming's No. 15
Joey Novak (197) against Missouri's No. 3 Rocky Elam. Novak scored a late takedown, but it was narrowly not enough, as Elam hung on for a 5-3 decision win.
Wyoming's only other ranked wrestler, No. 14
Gabe Willochell (149), fell via technical fall to Missouri's Nate Pulliam, 21-10.
Wyoming is back in action next weekend. The Pokes travel to the Reno Tournament of Champions on Dec. 17.
