LARAMIE, Wyo. (April. 16, 2022) – The Wyoming Cowgirl Golf team is set to cap off their season with a trip to Rancho Mirage, California to compete in the Mountain West Championships hosted at the Mission Hills Country Club April 18
th-20
th.
After having impressive freshman seasons, the duo of
Meghan Vogt and
Kyla Wilde are both set to compete in their first MW Championship tournament. Vogt has displayed impressive consistency all season long leading the team in top 25 finishes this season with four. Wilde has also displayed flashes of greatness this season highlighted by finishing tied for 8
th at the UVU Hobble Creek Classic, which is the best finish by any Cowgirl this season.
They will be joined in the lineup by
Morgan Ryan, who is also competing in her first MW Championship tournament as well
Jessica Zapf and
Samantha Hui. It will be the second straight MW Championship tournament for Zapf while Hui will be competing in her third MW Championship tournament.
The nine team Mountain West field Is highlighted by San Jose State who is currently ranked No. 5 in the nation by GolfStat riding a hot streak of winning three of their last four tournaments. UNLV is the next highest ranked team in the field at 50
th while the reigning Mountain West Champions New Mexico are ranked 53
rd. Last season the Cowgirls finished ninth at the conference tournament.
The first round of play is set to tee off on Monday, April 18 at 8:00 a.m. MT on the 6,270 yard par 72 course with the second and third rounds to played on Tuesday and Wednesday.
