Rancho Mirage, Cali. (April. 20, 2022) – The Wyoming Cowgirl Golf squad wrapped up their season today with the final round of play at the Mountain West Championships hosted at the Mission Hills Golf Club in Rancho Mirage, California. The Cowgirls finished the tournament in ninth place being led by a trio of athletes making their Mountain West Championships debut. 
 
"Not the finish we were hoping for but a lot of positive things to take away from this event. Our ball striking and preparation is absolutely where we need to be to be consistently competitive." Head Women's Golf Coach Josey Stender said, "To be led by two freshmen all season and this experienced lineup returning, next year is really something to be excited for." 
 
Meghan Vogt turned in her best round of the tournament on Wednesday shooting a 74 (+2) to finish with a total score of 232 (+16) to finish tied for 35th. Vogt wraps up her freshman season with a stroke average of 76.2 which ranks ninth all-time in program history. Fellow Freshman Kyla Wilde also finished tied for 35^th shooting a 232 (+16) as well. Morgan Ryan closed out her tournament by shooting a third round of 77 (+5) bringing her total to 233 (+17) earning her a tied for 38^th finish. Samantha Hui and Jessica Zapf rounded out the lineup finishing Tied for 40^th and 45^th respectively. 
 
In the team standings, the Cowgirls finished in ninth with a total team score of 932 (+68) finishing behind eighth Colorado State who posted a score of 909 (+45). No. 5 ranked San Jose State ran away with the team title shooting an 860 (-4) to capture the Mountain West Championship. New Mexico finished in second with a score of 890 (+26).
