LARAMIE, Wyo. (Oct. 27, 2022) – The Wyoming Cowgirls hit a season-high .330 as a team and held Fresno State to just a .058 hitting clip Thursday night as Wyoming routed the Bulldogs in three sets, 25-13, 25-18 and 25-18.
Wyoming hit .538 and .310 in the first and second sets, respectively on the night, jumping on Fresno State early. For the match, the Cowgirls (10-13, 6-5 MW) trailed for just four total points and were tied for only nine points in the sweep. The win is UW's first at home this season during league play.
KC McMahon had a big night for the Cowgirls as she notched a match-high 12 kills and hit an astounding .706 for the match. McMahon also had an ace and three total blocks in the win. Naya Shimé added nine kills and hit .467 while Teresa Garza and Tierney Barlow added seven and six, respectively. Sarah Holcomb and Kasia Partyka had four kills each.
Partyka, who spearheaded the Wyoming offense, tallied 37 assists in the win and was just one dig shy of a double-double. Partyka also added three blocks on the night while Holcomb notched a team-best four total blocks. For the match, Wyoming doubled-up the league's top-blocking team, 8-4. The Cowgirls also had twice as many service aces in the win at 4-2. In the back row, Skylar Erickson tabbed a match- and career-high 11 digs while Hailey Zuroske chipped in with eight. Zuroske led the Cowgirls with a pair of aces on the night.
The Cowgirls now look to sweep the weekend at home Saturday as San Diego State comes to the UniWyo Sports Complex for a noon first serve.
